Red Snapper season is one of the most anticipated events on the Daytona Beach fishing calendar. The season is short — typically a few weeks in late May through June — so when it opens, we make the most of every trip.
When Is Red Snapper Season?
The federal Red Snapper season in the South Atlantic typically opens around May 22 and runs for a limited number of days determined by NOAA each year. The season can close quickly once the quota is reached, so booking early is essential. Check with Captain Brad for the most current season dates.
How Far Offshore Do We Go?
Red Snapper are found on hard bottom structure and artificial reefs in 60–120 feet of water, typically 20–40 miles offshore from Daytona Beach. Captain Brad knows the productive reefs and ledges that consistently hold quality fish. A 5-hour deep sea charter gives us the best opportunity to reach prime Snapper grounds.
Gear & Technique
Red Snapper are targeted with heavy bottom rigs — typically 4–8 oz sinkers with circle hooks baited with cut squid, cigar minnows, or cut bait. All tackle is provided. The key is getting your bait to the bottom quickly in the current and keeping it there. Snapper are aggressive biters and the fight on medium-heavy gear is excellent.
Bag Limits & Regulations
The current federal bag limit is 2 Red Snapper per person per day during the open season. Minimum size is 16 inches total length. Captain Brad stays current on all regulations and ensures every trip is fully compliant.
